Institute of One
[ 00 — Institute of One ]

Your school needs AI. You need us to do it right.

We build your school’s AI systems, set clear rules with you, and teach your staff to keep building without us.

What you get Book a call

[ 01 — Rows ]

Bells. Rows. One lesson for thirty.

Same page, same pace, same deadline.

[ 02 — The pledge ]

Four hundred million for AI in schools.

The education share of the Gates Foundation’s September 14 pledge, including AI tutoring and teaching tools.

[ 03 — The desk ]

Policy. Integrity. Privacy. All on one desk.

Tutoring pilots. Vendor contracts. Teacher training. Parent questions.

[ 04 — The decision ]

Someone must decide.

[ 05 — The leader ]

Keep a person at the front of the room.

AI can draft and sort. People teach, grade and decide.

[ 06 — Every room ]

From one office, lamps on in every room.

Policy, training and tools that reach each teacher, not just the pilot.

[ 07 — Lesson and lab ]

Lesson and lab, braided together.

Teach

Hands-on AI practice for leaders and staff: drafting policy, reading research, answering families and clearing admin work, on your own documents.

Build

The institution’s AI systems, every one given a named owner and a written data rule, built beside the staff who will run them.

[ 08 — Evidence ]

Read the evidence before the pitch.

  1. About seven in 10 provosts use AI in their own work at least weekly. Only one in 10 says their institution has a centralized AI strategy.

  2. The Gates Foundation pledged $1 billion for AI tools, 40 percent of it for education, including AI tutoring. Outside researchers will evaluate the new pilots.

  3. A Student Defense report warns that colleges are adopting AI in admissions, advising and teaching faster than student protections are keeping up.

[ 09 — Tutors ]

A tutor for every student? Prove it first.

The pilots are part of that pledge. The independent evaluations are still ahead.

[ 10 — Next fall ]

Plan for the students who arrive next fall.

Write rules by assignment, not by tool. The tools change every term.

[ 11 — Consult or Build ]

Office hours, or coaches beside your staff.

Consult

$400 per hour

Reserved in 5-hour blocks

Hours with our coaches on the questions your office owns: the AI policy, integrity rules, vendor terms and staff training. Leave with drafts and the skill to revise them.

On Build, we get projects up and running within a week, depending on complexity and how quickly you give us access to your systems.

[ Questions ]

What is Institute of One?
Institute of One (instituteofone.com) is where Utlyze works with education leaders. It covers the institution’s side of AI: policy, academic integrity, tutoring evidence, student privacy and administrative workload.
Who is Institute of One for?
Principals, superintendents, deans, provosts and program directors in schools, districts and colleges who are setting AI rules and carrying the work that comes with them.
Should our school or district have an AI policy?
Yes. A workable policy says which uses are allowed by role and by assignment, what data may go into which tools, and how students and staff disclose AI use. Write it around tasks rather than product names, so it survives the next tool.
Does AI tutoring work?
It depends on the design, and the evidence is still being built. Fortune reports that the Gates Foundation’s new tutoring pilots will be evaluated by outside researchers, with success measured by whether students who have fallen behind catch up. Ask any vendor for evidence from settings like yours.
How should we handle AI and academic integrity?
Set the rule assignment by assignment, require students to say how they used AI, and grade the process as well as the final work. Detection alone is a weak foundation for a fair policy. This is educational information, not legal advice on student discipline.
What student data can we share with AI tools?
In the US, FERPA protects the privacy of student education records, and states add their own rules. Review each vendor contract with your counsel before sharing data. This is education, not legal advice.
How can administrators cut paperwork with AI?
Start with recurring writing that follows a pattern: summaries of reports, meeting notes, routine letters and first drafts of plans. Keep student records out of tools your contracts do not cover, and have a person check anything that goes to families.
How do we train teachers on AI?
In small cohorts, on their own lesson plans and marking, with one written rule about what the tool may and may not do. Give teachers time for it inside the working day, not after it.
How much are Consult and Build?
Consult runs $400 an hour in 5-hour blocks, which puts a first booking at $2,000. Build is $15,000 a month. Each month, pick up to 5 business processes for our build-with-you coaches to work on. They build your AI systems with you and teach your team to run them. If you ever leave, the systems stay with you. Agents work only on your systems, and a shared rotation answers calls 24/7 with response times in writing. To begin, fill in the short form that closes the home page.
How is this different from Business of One?
Business of One serves owners building an AI-first company. Institute of One serves schools, districts and colleges, where the questions are about students, teaching, integrity and privacy. Utlyze runs both, and the two Consult and Build offers are the same on each.

Built on the Of One method: ask the right questions, map what you find, make the best move. of1.ai ↗
